Walking The Brownfields

The lands pictured here are sites of the future fulfilments of dreams, where the attainment of the dream of home ownership will occur. These sites of future housing developments that have already seen the presence of industry and the removal of surface now lay bare.

What though of the dreams and presences which occupied these lands before they were put into such use by humans; those that are indigenous and organic to these lands, the traditional surfaces and ecological flows.

Once we have built again, constructed ‘house after… house, with yards the approximate size and utility of grave plots’ and paved over the land with the grid of roads and footpaths will there still remain an opportunity for poetics and reconciliation with the lie of the land?
